OUTPOST:: ART FROM THE STREET - 4NOV TO 11DEC - COCKATOO ISLAND, SYDNEY ::free entry::

Urban art....two words that always excite me.  This year we have seen a big explosion of it in Sydney. From independent street artists having successful solo exhibitions to major group collaborations as well as various festivals.  Coming up in November is the Outpost Project where over 100 of the best Street Artists from Australia and overseas transform Cockatoo Island.

The island's gritty industrial spaces will become platforms for projects that showcase the energy and diversity of contemporary Street Art. Large-scale installations will illuminate the island's vast abandoned factories and forgotten alleyways, while exhibitions, live art moments, films and forums take visitors on a multi-layered journey into global Street Art culture.

Australian and International artists such as Beastman,  Kid Zoom, Anthony Lister as well as collectives such as Everfresh  (a previously unseen major private collection of Street Art boasting works by Banksy, Os Gemeos, Swoon and Faile.   The OUTPOST PROJECT will also exhibit works from the 2011 Australian Stencil Art Prize, a major T-shirt streetwear exhibition, the May's Lane Street Art Project presented by Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, plus local and international projects curated by aMBUSH Gallery.

"Saul Williams" by E.L.K - Winner 2010 Australian Stencil Art Prize

All this art as well as pop-up bars, artist battles, demos, DJ's, tours and art-making projects, childrens workshops etc will ensure that there is something for everyone... and best of all....it is FREE

The program will soon be released.  So if you are interested then check out the OUTPOST website or join their Facebook group.
